Transferring a domain from one company to another ordinarily entails the use of a special domain name authorization code, which different registrar companies call an EPP authentication code, a domain password or an Auth-Info code. This code can be used as a protection measure against unapproved transfer attempts with all gTLD and with most ccTLD extensions. It can be obtained only by the domain registrant and is provided by the present domain registrar company. It must be given to the new registrar because the transfer procedure cannot be started without it. The code is case-sensitive and usually includes digits and special characters, so as to impede unauthorized people from cracking it. Some registrar companies even alter the codes of domain names registered through them periodically for even greater security.
EPP Transfer Protection in Shared Hosting
You can get the EPP transfer code for any domain name that you’ve registered with us with just a couple of clicks of the mouse from the same Hepsia Control Panel that you will use to administer your shared hosting account. As soon as you go to the Registered Domains section, you will find all your domain names neatly displayed in alphabetical order. In case a certain TLD extension supports transfers between registrars with an EPP code, you’ll notice an EPP button next to the given domain. If you click on that button, the code will be emailed to the email address associated with the Registrant contact for the given domain. If needed, you can edit the contact information, including the email, without even leaving this section of the Control Panel, if the current email isn’t valid anymore.
EPP Transfer Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you have registered a domain name that you’d like to transfer, you can obtain the EPP transfer authorization code unbelievably easy through the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you will manage both your domains and your account. If you go to the Registered Domains section, you will notice an EPP logo to the right of your domains, provided that their extensions support transfers between registrar companies with such a code. All codes are emailed automatically by our system to the registrant’s email to ensure that only the domain name owner can receive this info. In case the current address is not valid any longer, you can change it with a few mouse clicks without needing to leave this section of the Control Panel. The update is instant, so you will be able to request the EPP code for the particular domain name right away.
